  1. Issue: homeless
  • Whom does the issue or problem affect?
The issue can affect society and an individual.
  • Are others already working on the issue? What can people do to help?
Yes, organization such as Feeding America and Just Give. What people can do is Donate food or clothes to support the cause.
  • What factors contribute to the problem?
Lack of education and job opportunities are also major causes for individuals who are homeless.
  • Where does the issue have greatest impact?
A community or worldwide.
  • When did the issue or problem begin?
Homelessness started in the early 1980s in America. This issue can start from being homeless for a long time or losing a home residence or job.
  • Why do you think it is important?
I think the issue of being homeless is important every day to a greater extent  people losing their job, unable to pay bills, and in the long run lose their home. I have seen families live in cars and work while trying to survive. I believe homelessness needs a lot of attention because every where I go I see homeless people holding signs looking for either work or food.

     2.Issues:Young people not finishing school
    • Whom does the issue or problem affect? How does it affect them?
The problem can affect the parents and the child itself. it can affect them by not being able to have a well paying career or have to get a GED (general educational development) diploma.
    • What can people do to help? What type of service might be most helpful to people affected by the issue?
By people volunteering to tutor student and being# mentors to them it can have a positive result that the young people can graduate on time. Mentoring Tomorrow Leaders and Children Stock are programs where a mentor come and motivated a student to achieve their goals in being successful in life.
    • Where can you find people working on it?
You can find people working on young student's finishing school at after school programs, YMCA, and at a mentor's home.
    • When did the issue or problem begin?
The issues have been known for years, however, it can begin with a student getting poor grades or couldn't keep up with the work, had discipline problems where they either get suspended or expelled, or becomes pregnant and had to support his/her family.
    • Why do people think this issue is important?
People believe that young people not being able to finish school is important because it can lead the one person into being unemployed, have poor health, live into poverty or be on public assistance. By people being mentors to a student who think about dropping out of school, it can change that one person mind and can help them believe that having an education is the most essential of being successful.

          Discussion
Hello, my name is Charmaine. I want to start working with a group of motivated individuals who want to tutor and mentor children and/or teens who need encouragement and advice on how to be persistence to strive for a continuous of education and who is not give up and drop out in school. We can discuss the importance of knowledge and support young students need to successful in their life.

Charmaine makes an excellent point. I would also like to add that maybe your group should advertise the organization by making flyers and pass it out around the school. It might spread interests for those who have leadership and would like to become a tutor and a mentor.

I agree with part of your posting. I support you on motivating and tutoring student who are in risk or is failing a class, but I feel differently about trying to make an effort on a student who might not or do not make it half way to do the right thing for their self. It would be wasting someone time trying to change some perspective if they already made up their mind to become a drop out.
